Kentucky Snow and Ice

Snowflakes are kisses from heaven. ~Author Unknown

The weather has been a wintry mix here in Kentucky. Monday it snowed so much that it reminded me of being back home in Alaska. Although it came with warmer weather.
Trying to stay up beat on these chilly gray days, I would drive around at times to try to capture the scenery in my lens.

Yesterday came with an ice storm. Thankfully this one was not as bad as the one that hit in 2009, but I did prepare for it. The kids had no school Thursday but had practice for wrestling. As I drove back and forth from home to bring the kids to and from, I brought my camera along to see if I could catch the beauty of ice.

My Japanese maple tree encapsulated in ice.

More evidence of icicles.

Of winter's lifeless world each tree
Now seems a perfect part;
Yet each one holds summer's secret
Deep down within its heart.

Chrissy yes I hear from him almost everyday. He has not received any packages yet. I was getting nervous because I sent a bunch off already and the earliest on the 7th of Dec since I figured it would be there waiting for him when they settled in. But he doesn't have those yet and unlike other FOB's they actually have to go out and get their own mail so they make mail runs. He has been really busy so the little time he does have he tries to get a hold of us. Thank you in advance for the package. I will make sure to let him know to be on the look out for it and once he gets it I will let you know.
Thank you for the compliments. Yes it was in the 30's when Alaska was in the negative 30'. I don't miss that cold but here its wet cold and windy. At least I know though it will not be for over 6months. :)

Yeah he doesn't stay on an American FOB. They actually have to go out and get their own mail and the last couple days he said they couldn't. I talked to him today and told him to be on the look out for it. Its starting to frustrate me because he doesn't even have their Totes yet they sent to themselves before they left and my first letters and boxes hasn't got to him yet. He told me to be patient that the mail runs there are different and none of the rules that apply in the US apply there once it hits theater he said. :(

Beautiful pictures.. of the ice and of your decorated house. Don't you find the house looks bare, once the decorations come down?!!
I hope your man is doing well. XX

Thank you Abi. Yes Bo is doing good. Busy but he is good. I just look forward to my calls or skype calls. :)

Love the icy photos, Abby! I remember those kind of ice storms when we lived in the southeast. While dangerous to drive in, they sure make everything look sparkly! Love your photos!
